In the News

It's been a busy winter at the Paleontological Research Institution (PRI) and its Museum of the Earth with a great deal of media coverage! We ushered in the new year with a look at what 2009 holds for the Discovery Trail partners, including the Museum of the Earth. To read about it, click here.

We flew into February by being featured in US Airways Magazine's coverage of Ithaca. You might have read the story if you were in the air, but if you missed the article, you can read it here.

In February, we made front page news around the country with our Darwin Days celebration. In fact we had over 22 stories written about our celebration of Darwin and evolution in the first 18 days of the month! On February 12 we made the front page of Syracuse's Post Standard. A complete list including links to these articles can be found here.

As many of you know, 2009 marks the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his masterwork, On the Origin of Species. During the past 150 years there has been much discussion on Darwin's theory of evolution, a discussion that continues today. Warren Allmon, PRI's Director was just interviewed by The Washington Post for a story about students from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virgina who recently took a trip to the Smithsonian Institution to strengthen their belief on the biblical view of natural history. If you missed the article, you can find it here.

Help keep the discussion going by signing up for PRI's Evolution Project mailing list at: www.museumoftheearth.org/outreach.php?page=SI!

Hope to see you soon and keep your eye out for us in the news,
